Hello!
A Bit About Me
My name is Leighton Schreyer (they/them). I am a writer, poet, and critically Mad queer activist in Toronto, ON. As a current medical student, I am passionate about recentering the fundamental role story plays in healthcare and caregiving, and about using narrative — be that written, spoken, visual, or any other form of artistic self-expression — as a powerful tool to foster healing and human connection.

My own writing often engages with themes of gender, sexuality, mental health, and the human condition as I strive to unsettle norms and critically engage with the world around me. My work has been featured in some of the world's leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association, as well as many literary and news outlets, such as Redivider, The Sun, and Hippocampus Magazine.
